A webinar on “Know Your Army” has been conducted on 28 May 2025 from 1100-1200 hrs at NIT Hamirpur via online mode. In this programme, Indian Army veteran Lt Gen JK Sharma AVSM (Retd) was the chief guest of the programme and delivered a talk to the participants. Col SS Rawat, CO, 4 HP (I) COY NCC Hamirpur and Prof. HM Suryawanshi, Director NIT Hamirpur presided over the function. In this webinar, 225 senior cadets from 06 Institutes under 4 HP (I) Coy NCC Hamirpur, 06 ANOs, 05 veterans and 05 faculty and staff members and 150 students participated in the programme.
At first, Director NIT Hamirpur, Prof. HM Suryawanshi addressed the students with the strengths and sacrifices of the Indian Army, which is backbone of national security and protect the nation from threats and uphold peace and harmony during disasters and conflicts. He further highlighted the importance of such a webinar, which allows all of us to understand the might, discipline, and dedication of our Indian Army.
Further, the chief guest of the function, Gen Sharma talked about the life, values, and opportunities which the Indian Army presents; not just as a profession, but as a way of life. He narrated the ultimate bravery and sacrifice of our National Heros such as Major Somnath Sharma, Major Shaitan Singh and Capt Vikram Batra and explained the Role of Indian Army in solving the Kashmir crisis, Battle of Rezang La, War of 1965 and War of Tololing. He also briefed the qualities of a true soldier through the example of Major Mohit Sharma, a hero from the Indian Army, who went undercover in a counter-insurgency operation and also discussed role of Indian Army in various surgical strikes, Galwan conflict and during Operation Sindoor. He engaged with the participants by answering their questions and stressed that the major role of teachers would be to motivate the students to do better in life.
Finally, Col SS Rawat delivered the vote of Thanks to the chief guest and ensured that NCC is playing a crucial role in motivating the students to inherit the qualities of Indian Army. He also highlighted that NCC is a wonderful platform through which the cadets are turning out as Officers in Armed Forces and contributing to strengthening the Tri services.
